Trixie would make for an interesting foil character. Hopefully she doesn't end up being forced to play the Generic Evil Rival in S3.

Hopefully she'll get some character development too. Though it would almost certianly invalidate a lot of fanon, just because there's so much of it.

Boast Busters was a slightly poorly handed Aesop too, albeit more due to execution, since the Idiot of the Week wasn't all that provokative until a bunch of admitedly hypocritical ponies started kicking up an Anvilicious storm about her act.

Also I agree on the Depending on the Writer situation. While it does make the characters a little inconsistant at times, having multiple directions and perspectives of the cast and personalities often brings up more ideas and facets of how they should work, meaning there's often varied takes on which characters are used and what roles they take. I tend to find shows that use only one writer to be more limited or end up falling to Flanderization or Spotlight-Stealing Squad syndrome when one with a previously large amount of writers reverts to one.

Even with the number of writers in the show, you can tell recurring patterns in usage for each one. I tend to like Rogers' work for example, but if she took full control I get the idea it would become "The AJ Show".evil grin

One thing I've always found interesting is how before MLPFIM started airing, you have people and sources bring up "ponies" and talk about them mockingly, like saying that [adult swim] has stuff that makes Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles look like My Little Pony.

Clearly, those sources take the attitude that MLP is childish. Nowadays, I would love to find those people and sources and give them a Shut Up, Hannibal! response. evil grin

How so? Well, first off, men and women used horses and ponies for all sorts of purposes at one time. When did the attitude that horses and ponies are only for girls and women get started? Boys and men can look Badass on horses and ponies.

Secondly, I bet those people and sources never watched the original MLP, which contained some truly vile villains. Really, I would call that Critical Research Failure!

I would hope this show proves that ponies are not as one-trick and uncool as too many people believe! cool

I think it was partly because 'it's a girls show' and partly because G3 ruined its reputation.

Speaking of Trixie, this is supposed to be cute, but to me it just highlights how random and nonsensical this ship is.

I move that we simply remove aesops from the show entirely and focus on making entertaining episodes. Don't think that's too likely to happen though.

Eh, I think the aesops keep the show grounded. If they removed them completely and simply focused on being entertaining I think there is a real risk of the show just devoloving into a typical comedy cartoon.

@Tiggers: Well, things are going to be that way for a while since one show is not goint to beat years of marketing indoctrination, and gender stereotypes that have been around even longer.

Just a heads up people, there appears to be a program crated by trolls which looks like a normal pony game, but it deletes your system32 if you play it.

I'm not sure how legit it is, but I recommend caution. If's it's true, it's kind of petty of that troll...

Sys32 contains a bunch of important system files, for short.

Anyways I reckon it'll blow over. If you're running at least Vista, UAC should prevent such a program from messing with your system files. Just be wary of any fangames that want admin permissions for now.

Luckily, I don't really bother with game downloads, so that's one bad thing down... a bajillion more to go.

The Internet is not safe.
