I would say that they could stick things in the gaps between their hooves, but aside from ponies like Shining Armor and Big Macintosh everyone else's hooves just seem to be flat with no visible hooves.
Which is weird because when the CMC ran off into the Everfree in
Look Before You Sleep they left regularly-shaped hoof tracks.
Tick Tock, goes the clock/ He cradled and he rocked her/ Tick Tock, goes the clock/Till River kills the Doctor.
@Ace Or it could just be an animation flub. Those happen. No need to invent new pony abilities to justify rare occurrences. If they actually had this ability, we'd see it more often.
Who's Snowdrop?
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.
@Librarian: That's just a visual softhand because most folks nowadays wouldn't know what unshod pony hoofprints look like :V
@Kyler: The one with Luna is amazingly lush. I can only assume most of it was done in game.
@ed: There were two Luna pics, but I assume you mean
this one
.
It looks more like something computer generated. I know I wouldn't want to sculpt something that large by hand.

Ponified Steven Magnet?
Steven Magnet's long lost twin sister?
Steven Magnet's future bride?

@Kyler: Their babies will be...I don't even wanna know the logistics of that.
It can't be any worse than literal
Hot Skitty-on-Wailord Action.

@Ace Universal telekinesis kinda makes ferrokinesis redundant. If anything, she probably knows a spell that magnetizes objects to attract or repel each other.
Ferrokinesis is... what, exactly?
Because if you can manipulate magnetic fields just so, you could either create astounding electrical or electronic effects, or just seriously mess up anything sufficiently high-tech. (Like Mr. Breezy's fans.)

Maybe the horseshoe footprints come from the soft part of the hoove used for gripping. It's not visible normally since the hoof is flat, but it sticks into the ground when walking?

I think it's basically Earthbending.
