The sunstone was this magic rock that used to enchant Flutter Valley. It made all the grass there magical and nutritious and was what caused ponies who ate there to grow those flutter-wings that made them all flutterponies. The flipside is they needed to eat stone-enchanted grass to live and, well...

Both of those animators' behind-the-scenes video series (Evolution of a Scene and My MLP season 1 scenes) were indeed taken down, apparently due to other people leaking then-upcoming Season 2 content (including the Smile Song's audio).
