I wonder if Equestria ponies still go through estrus.

Look up estrus Well it sounds like they either have an estrus or menstral cycle.
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Although as comedic as Estrus is in a society of sentient ponies. I think that their biological reactions are closer to a humans, to keep in line with the fact that they have similar lifespans to humans.

@Steve We actually have no idea how long their lifespans are. Many people theorize that they actually life much longer than humans thanks to Granny Smith's backstory.

I don't know what an estrus is, and something tells me it better that way...

@ATC: And why not?

Because Icky mammalian bodily functions have no place in my reptilian fantasy worlds.

So next question - do Changelings lay eggs?
Life is simple: it has no nontrivial normal subgroups.

Of course.

Ponies also lay eggs, three to six at a time, only one of which will normally hatch.

Wait, I thought that they were birds.

I suspect eggs are involved. At which case I am curious what changeling larva look like, they are probably cute little buggers.

Birds are reptiles.

No, really, it's a valid scientific classification, and Robert Bakker himself supports it.

My headcanon on changeling reproduction is that they reproduce my mating with their target species, and any offspring produced by a changeling and their host is always a changeling itself, instinctively disguised as a child of the appropriate species. Eventually, the parent changeling makes off with the baby once it's old enough. It's more or less a take on the classical "changeling crib-swap" mythology.
