Progress may or may not exactly stick better compared to Earth, depending on how you look at the timescale involved. What we know of the timeline is Hearth Warming Eve->Discord's reign->Celestia and Luna's emergence with the Elements of Harmony->Luna becomes Nightmare Moon and is banished->1k years->present. That is a lot of history there that could very well be spread out over an amount of time equal or greater than the entirety of human civilization, as we have no idea how long any of those time periods are sans the period of Luna's banishment.

That Paper Mario/mlp fim comparison reminds me of this: I once ran into a Super Mario Bros/Mlp Fim crossover fanfic that mentioned in the description that apparently Equestria was in the same world as the Mario Games took place in {Since the Mario games have a huge amount of kingdoms}. We all know that ovbiously that isn't canon, but it's an intreasting thought at least.

I need to read that fic someday if I can find it again, especially since it mentioned that Bowser and Discord team up and form a Big bad duumvirate. The thought of those two working together sounds amusing to me.

There are very few franchises that I think could cross over with MLP without breaking canon too much. Off the top of my head I can only think of three: Mass Effect, Kingdom Hearts, and Magic: The Gathering. Any of those crossed with ponies just works creepily well in my head.

The vast majority of the strange physics things that are never really addressed and the answer always defaults to "magic" make a lot more sense if you exchange "magic" with "Mass Effect fields". At least in my head. Pegasi abilities in particular match up almost perfectly with what we know Mass Effect fields to be capable of, and Unicorns can easily be natural biotics. It's not perfect, no, but it doesn't require nearly as much wrangling as it would first appear, and would allow ponies to keep their magic intact in a hard sci-fi setting.

EDIT: School ponies collectible set on the way? Who would be the third? Cheerilee? Or another student? That Diamond Tiara figure is amazing, though.

That... actually kinda makes sense. Magic is just energy repurposed to do things that Newtonian Physics says aren't supposed to happen after all :V

@Ace Eh, Mass Effect and Newtonian physics can actually get along pretty well most of the time. After all, "Sir Issac Newton is the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space!" But when you start getting into negative mass and all of that fun stuff, then conventional physics go right out the window.

Bleh, knocked out a quickie ponified version of my ''WorldOfWarcraft'' main◊ for ATG because I didn't have time to do anything more interesting. Hopefully this is the last time I'll have to resort to something so basic.

@Lurker: I bet Twi would love to read up on our developments in the field of physics Newtonian Physics still work for most normal calculations, only exotic calculations or extremely precise things need more refined sciences.
