Yup RD, Pinkie, AJ, and Rarity all have well defined jobs. Twilight's a grad student, and Fluttershy probably gets reimbursed for her animal stuff somehow.

I figure Twilight gets a stipend either from Celestia herself, or her parents. And she work as the Librarian in exchange for living in the library.

Fluttershy. Well she is the one in charge of the annual bunny census, so i'm guessing Equestria has some sort of public works department that deals with wild animals which Fluttershy works for. plus a few extra bits from taking care of ponies pets while they are away.

Yes, the ponies in the show obviously have the same needs to urinate and defecate like real animals, although I don't think they ever show the actual urine and feces. Pinkie Pie even had a Potty Emergency herself in The Last Round-up, and one of Rarity's excuses in Sweet and Elite was saying that she needed to use the "little filly's room" in the same manner that a human female would say that she needs to use the "little girl's room."

Edit: Ninja'd, I don't think they've ever shown an actual toilet outside of the outhouse in The Last Round-up, though.
