It isn't necessarily fancy clothes, pimp outfits tend to be pretty gaudy. The reason Cheerilee's hat is referred to as a pimp hat and not any other kind is because it's funny that way.

Ah, so Spike isn't hoarding. He's just kleptomaniac!

I got to say, I hope that as dragons get older they get better at selecting stuff to hoard. All that crap Spike nabbed would look shameful next to a proper gold and gem hoard.

I attribute that to the fact that he cleaned out Rarity's shop fairly early on, and there weren't really a whole lot of gems in Ponyville, so he just grabbed whatever.

As far as I know, hoarders just collect junks from street or dumps. They don't necessarily steal anything. As far as I know, that is.

Hmm, it actually makes sense considering the popular image of dragon; sleeping around piles of treasures.

Ah, so you're enjoying the episode, Roy? It's a pretty good one.

Even Pinkie's excited about it.

@JT - He did? Huh. I missed that bit.

[up] I am. Kinda.

@Roy I usually think of hoarders as people who refuse to get rid of anything, while kleptos steal stuff for kicks.

Haven't we had a discussion on natural dragon growth vs speed growth before?

Nothing I know of.

Darn, an errand. The live-blogging shall resume in about an hour or so.

Too bad Secret of My Excess aired before Hearts and Hooves day or I'd say Cherilee has the Pimp hat for a little role playing with Big Mac. Pimp Daddy Mac anyone?

Yeah, I think that most dragons are prevented from the type of hoarding spree that leads to this type of growth. Possibly by older dragons keeping them in line. It's also possible that most dragons don't live in the middle of a town with lots of stuff to hoard. If you grow up in the desert, your hoard wouldn't grow nearly as fast, unless you want nothing but cacti and rocks. That or not all types of dragons experience the same thing.

[up][up] Mac is the pimp, as I have always believed.

@D Roy: I don't think it ever did show that, but it's a good explanation for why his hoard is made up of random crap rather than anything valuable.

Some more fanart of that pony raised by deer.

Thread Hop.

Age-wise, I figure Fluttershy > Rarity > AJ > Pinkie > Twilight > Rainbow with a two year difference between Fluttershy and Rainbow.

^ Reminds me of The Monarch, the supervillain who was raised by butterflies.

I tend to call Vague Age on it other than I think Fluttershy and AJ are toward the older end, and Pinkie is one of the younger ones, if not the youngest.

@Drenius I don't know whether it's adorable or depressing that being a deer is such a huge part of his identity that his cutie mark is just common deer markings to help him fit in.

My headcannon is pretty set on Rainbow being the youngest. She looked the smallest of them all in the cutie mark flashbacks, while Fluttershy was certainly the biggest. Of course, Fluttershy could just have been an early bloomer.

Nah, Fluttershy was a late bloomer if anything; she's more lanky than everyone else, which implies that she's probably older. It would also explain why she was so freaked out when other ponies made fun of her; it was evident to them that she was having issues.

My idea is that dragons which grow naturally take time to pick good hoards, while Greedy!dragons just grab whatever comes to claw.

Lurker, I think of the deer pony as as slightly sad character.

The Monarch, the supervillain who was raised by butterflies.

WTF? That's almost as weird as the Green Lantern who is a living mathematical equation.

Oh it's from a comedy. I got confused because there actually is a comicbook villian named Monarch.
