@Crowfall We know that, because we've seen that type of song-and-dance con-man character a million times before. However, the characters don't know that, so what makes sense as a decision to us isn't so cut and dry to them. For all they knew, the brothers very well could have made good on their promise to run them out of business, and it wasn't a threat to take lightly.

Even so, I think it was really bad call to jump into the competition like that, especially given that the Flim Flam's brothers' entire point was that the family couldn't produce cider fast enough. The real issue is that they agreed that quantity was going to be the sole factor in the challenge.

@JT that's very cute :) I love the look on her eyes

Well, yeah. It was definitely a bad call. But it was a believably (IMO) bad call made by a very prideful, very old pony, and the rest of the family was going to back her on that no matter what.

Well to be fair, Granny Smith was the only one to jump at the challenge, the rest of the family seemed smart enough to turn it down.

I like to think that after that episode AJ and Big Macintosh wrested control of the property away from Granny. Can't leave it in the hands of someone who will recklessly gamble it away after all.

On it's own, I think I could have lived with it, but the entire conflict had all sorts of little stupidities like that. And I have to say that even if Granny was totally into it, she's senile enough that Big Mac and AJ should really have known not to listen to her in that particular instance.

@Fallen: Thanks. Tonight I'll try to make a bigger drawing in my sketchbook. Did you ever see the rest of my drawings?

Maybe the flim flam brother could have bought apples from somewhere else?

Actually, it was Applebloom who kept jumping on everything the twins said, with Granny trying to calm her down... up until the twins called her chicken.

Given that the Apple family makes their entire living off of apples, I'd think they'd at least be aware of other sources.

I guess it was more of a pride thing on their parttongue

@Fallen: The brothers could have gotten apples somewhere else, but buying large quantities of apples and having them delivered to another town would drive their costs up, making it hard to compete with a family that has their own supply.

Yeah, the Cutie Mark Crusader's theme song was actually really cool, musically. It just had really kooky lyrics and a bad singer. Sweetie Belle was the one who wrote the original melody and chorus, though, so it makes sense that it would sound cool at its core.

Something that I want to know is who the CMC got to record the backing to their performance. That pony deserves a medal. tongue

[up]Nah, this is Equestria. Spontaneous musical backing for all the musical numbers is just a feature of the world. There's probably even an alicorn in charge of that.

Still, for 3 elementary school students, the performance was actually pretty good.

It was better than whatever that performance was in Rarity's flashback.

Look, we're in costumes, and we're bobbing! That's impressive, right?

Well, I decided to give that EQD artist training thing a go. Since I was too late for yesterday's "peak" prompt, I decided to combine it with today's.

And as long as I'm scanning things, here are a couple concepts for Luna from my Fire Emblem adaptation. I like the one on the right much better in terms of design, but I completely ruined it with the color. That's what I get for using colored pencils from the dollar store, I guess.

@Perpetual: Well see, the reason for that is...

Um...

Ah! They traveled outside of the range of whoever is in charge of the magical backing in Equestria.
