Reminds me of that scene in UHF where "Rampo" (Weird Al) catches the bullet in his mouth, chews it up, and spits it back at the guy, killing him.

Here it is for pagetopper.

In season 3, Trixie will be voiced by Weird Al, and no one would question it. wild mass guess

Speaking of illusions, I was rewatching several episodes the other night, including Suited for Success. Man, Rarity can make some really good illusions when she has enough prep time. I dont think we've even ever seen Twilight dabbling in that kind of magic, and despite her typical fanon representation, Trixie never really created any illusions, either.

My headcanon concerning Weird Al is that he's Pinkie's uncle, and he travels from town to town, using his accordian to exterminate the parasprites.

@Lurker Beauty is an illusion. As are pants.

Braeburn looks impressed.

@ Lurker: She has those extremely realistic Neon pictures.

Rarity does have a flair for the dramatic and beautiful.

@Lurker: During the sad reprise of BBBFF in Canterlot Wedding, Twi was animating those little figures (you can see her magic glow):

Yeah it is pretty impressive. I wonder if it's a sign that other Unicorns beside Twilight are capable of learning more magic beyond their trademark spell?

@Apple I think they're all capable, like all humans are technically capable of running at Olympic speeds. Most of us can't, because we haven't trained enough, and the same way with unicorns. Plus, if you work at a furniture store or something, why would need a spell for walking on clouds?

Well that's pretty much a given. Though nopony or no one is really sure just how magic works.

The closest we have to a Word Of God is from Lauren Faust saying she saw unicorn magic like art. Some people/ponies are good at one style while others are naturally gifted in others. And while each unicorn has one type of magic/art that comes naturally to them, it possible for them to learn at least the basics of another with enough time and effort. It's just most never bother to and are simply content with what they are naturally good at.

Twilight's little figurines were similar, I guess. Still nowhere near what Rarity did, though. As for the talents thing, that was explicitly spelled out in Boast Busters, though I'm sure that there are plenty of spells that are generic enough for any unicorn to use, like telekinesis. As for Rarity, her talent is making things look beautiful, and creating illusions very easily falls under that purview.

With as much general literature on magic that is available I wonder of the special talent of "magic" is not as uncommon as it's implied.

I think Rarity's cutie mark story is symbolic in a way. All she saw was a plain old rock, but when it split open she found gems, which she used to beautify her 'just nice' play costumes (Bling is pretty, right? tongue). So in a sense, she's all about finding beauty even in the simple things and bringing out that beauty.

Just a thought. Not really related to the talent discussion at hand.

Season 3 production hinting: the Season Finale was apparently finished before other episodes.

@What That's certainly interesting. That could mean that there will actually be foreshadowing and build up to the finale since they have it planned out so far in advance. I'd certainly like to see that, but at the very least we know that they're on the ball here.

If shorter seasons are gonna be a thing from here on out (I'm not sure), actual arcs would be interesting, at least as a background thing.

Legend of Korra's next season is having around 13 episodes (IIRC), and now ponies will too. I miss 20+ episode seasons. sad

At least Adventure Time's season is still on.

It's more that it's a reasonable work schedule. Look at how much time goes into a season, then look at how much time they have. There are literally two weeks per episode in a year, and they try to have these things done way ahead of time, so not even that. That's harsh on a production team trying to produce a quality work. Now, with 13 episode seasons, they could potentially have the seasons be more frequent, so that it would still be easier on them, but they wouldn't be working at exactly half the pace as before.

Like I said, I'm not sure if this is how they're going to produce it from now on, but Lurker has a good point. As with all things, let's just sit down and quietly panic. I mean keep calm.
